1. Folio 26. Copy. Intelligence from Kendal [Westmorland]. Lord Lonsdale assured Clerks of the Peace in Appleby [Westmorland] that General Wade would reach Carlisle [Cumberland] on 20 November 1745; rebels [Jacobites] should be recalled from Penrith [Cumberland]. Mr Armitage refused to give rebels hay and provisions. Concern about rebels at Kendal since Jonathan Holland passed through. News of 120 rebel horse proceeding from Lowther Hall [Westmorland] towards Chap [?Shap, Westmorland]. Some rebels at Thrimby [Westmorland] asking for directions to Kendal. Dated at Kendal, 21 November 1745.
