Description

Folios 13-14. John Peirce and John Hill to [Newcastle], containing intelligence. Copy of same sent to General [Sir John] Ligonier or commander at Chester [Cheshire]. Dated at Bedale [Yorkshire].

With copy of intelligence: 'Highlanders' [Jacobites] in Penrith [Cumberland]; Marshal Wade at Hexham [Northumberland], his advance guard is at Hayton Bridge [?Haydon Bridge, Northumberland]; 'Chevalier's' [Charles Edward Stuart] vanguard gone to Lord Lonsdale's, on route to Lancaster [Lancashire]. Dated 20 November 1745.

With copy of Lord Kilmarnock to Captain Vere. Quartermaster of 'his Royal Highness's' [Charles Edward Stuart] army will send protection to Appleby [Westmorland], as requested by Mayor and Corporation of town. Dated at Carlisle [Cumberland], 19 November 1745.
