Folios 41-45. Draft. Newcastle to Marshal Wade. King supports Council of War's decision to march against rebels [Jacobites] at Carlisle [Cumberland]. Many of Wade's troops are sick. Lieutenant General Handasyde arrived in Edinburgh, with report of 700 men joining rebels in Perthshire. Sir John Ligonier's army should arrive in Cheshire and Lancashire in November. Colonel Ellison, Quartermaster General, coming to Litchfield [Lichfield, Staffordshire] with details of troop movements. French troops reportedly embarking at Dunkirk and Brest; Lord Clair, Lord John Drummond or Duke of Richelieu in command. Should send reports to Ligonier, Earl of Derby and Earl of Cholmondeley. Dated at Whitehall [London, Middlesex].
