Folios 37-40. Draft. Newcastle to Earl of Cholmondeley. Approves surveys of rivers, roads and passes around Chester [Cheshire]. Sir John Ligonier will send commissaries to buy forage. Will ask Duke of Montagu to send gunners. Clarifies earlier orders concerning breaking down bridges. Marshal Wade and Colonel Ellison, Quartermaster General, sending reports to Chester. Wade marching to Carlisle [Cumberland]. Ligonier should reach Lancashire and Cheshire before rebels [Jacobites]. Lieutenant General Handasyde arrived at Edinburgh on 14 November. Dated at Whitehall [London, Middlesex].
