Incorporated under Rhondda and Swansea Bay Railway Act 10th August 1882. Line was worked by Great Western Railway as from 1st January 1906 under agreement dated 2nd July 1906 (Print 644) and absorbed into Great Western Railway as from 1st January 1922 by virtue of Railways Act dated 19th August 1921.
