Folio 205: George Fowke, HMS Irresistible, Gillingham Reach. Covering letter enclosing his journal for the week 26 May 1811 to 2 June 1811. Includes a Post Script stating that he has received a note fron the Coroner advising that the Jury have brought in their verdict of justifiable homicide regarding the prisoners killed on board HMS Sampson on 31 May 1811 and those who later died on board HMS Trusty.
Folio 206: enclosure with folio 205. Journal of logs of HMS Irresistible, George Fowke, Captain, at Gillingham Reach, of weather conditions and prisoner and ships' movements, in the area during period Sunday 26 May 1811 to Saturday 1 June 1811, including an account on 31 May 1811 of the shooting dead of a French prisoner on board HMS Sampson and, although no orders had been given, several other shots were fired which killed 3 prisoners and seriously wounded 5 others, one of whom died soon after being sent to HMS Trusty. Lieutenant Mounier and HMS Terrible, HMS Buckingham, HMS Bahama, HMS Raisonable and HMS Kron Princens also mentioned.
