Description

Folios 173-174: Thomas Forrest, HMS Cyane, Mother Bank. Covering letter for the enclosed copy of his orders from Vice Admiral [George Cranfield] Berkeley and to inform of his arrival at this anchorage in quarantine with Lieutenant General Sir John [Coape] Sherbrooke KB on board from Lisbon and to report the ship being in the most perfect health. You will see by the enclosed, he has a French Man on board passenger, who is not to be landed until directions from either the Admiralty or the Secretary of State. The Ministries despatches have been forwarded to the Secretary of State from Falmouth.

Folio 175: enclosure with folios 173-174. Order dated 3 May 1810 by Vice Admiral [George Cranfield] Berkeley. Lisbon to Thomas Forrest, HMS Cyane. His Majesty's Minister having applied for a passage to England for Louis Tannier, a French Officer, now on HMS Barfleur and granted him a passport for that purpose. You are to receive him on board HMS Cyane for a passage, Victualling him as your Ship's Company, and on arrival at Spithead you will await orders before he is aloud to land. It is also my direction you receive Lieutenant [Gerrard] Fleetwood of the Navy, late resident agent here, for a passage to England, Victualling him as your Ship's Company.

Folios 176-177: enclosures with folios 173-174. Orders dated 3 May 1810 by Vice Admiral [George Cranfield] Berkeley, HMS Barfleur, in the Targus to Thomas Forrest, HMS Cyane.Orders:- The Commander in Chief of the British Army has requested that Lieutenant General Sir John [Coape] Sherbrooke KB be returned to England. You are directed to take the said Lieutenant General, his Aid de Camp, Servants and Baggage on board HMS Cyane and Victualling them as your Ship's Company, and land them at Portsmouth. Noting that his and the Commander in Chief's Dispatches are to be in England by Sunday Next
