Folios 223-224: Thomas Forrest, Regulating Captain, Yarmouth. Reports that as instructed he sent a petty officer and two men to Colchester to take custody of two deserters and to tell Sergeant Lee of the 44th Regiment that he would be paid the bounty once Captain Forrest had discovered which ship they had deserted from and received a certificate from her captain that their wages had been stopped. But the two turned out not to be seamen but rather boys, Ralph Bowden, aged 14, Boatswain's Servant, and Thomas Moore, 16, Carpenter's Servant, both of HMS Ariadne. Asks whether in these circumstances he should be paying Sergeant Lee the usual bounty for seamen of £2 each.
