Folios 198-199: Robert Forbes, HMS Coquette, Chatham. Having inspected his new command, reports that her Gun Ports are so small that they will only take a 3-pounder gun, and even then the crew must be on their knees to point the guns. Under the Quarterdeck and Forecastle there is even less space, and the gun crew must work half bent over. Asks for the decks to be raised enough to allow the guns to be worked efficiently, the Master Builder and other officers of the dockyard agree with his opinion. The rigging of the Chains is such that the ship is in danger of being lost if she cannot carry enough sail.
