Folios 127-128: William FitzRoy, HMS Aolus [Eolus], Cork Harbour. Reports that when he met the Diana of Liverpool bound for Santo Domingo, Robert Lewis, Master, and William Forbes, owner, he found she was carrying an Admiralty protection for thirty men dated 13 June. However, the word"five" appeared to have been inserted into the document by another hand, and he had no doubt this was done after the protection was issued. In the circumstances, he felt justified in impressing the extra five crewmen.
