Folios 276-277: Francis Fayerman, HMS Athenian, Portsmouth. He writes to support the request of William Smith, Midshipman, that he be promoted to be a Lieutenant.
Folio 278: enclosed with folios 276-277. William Barton, HMS Lapwing. He certifies that William Smith served under him in the West Indies as a Midshipman and recommends him for promotion to the position of a Lieutenant.
Folio 279: enclosed with folios 276-277. Robert Daniel, HMS Beschermer. He certifies that William Smith served under his command and has his warmest support.
Folio 280: enclosed with folios 276-277. Daniel Gould, HMS Majestic. He certifies that William Smith served under his command and has his support in his application to be a Lieutenant.
Folio 281: enclosed with folios 276-277. Robert Daniel, HMS Beschermer. He certifies that William Smith served under him as an Able Seaman, before being promoted to be a Midshipman. He is diligent and sober.
