Folios 606-607: Thomas Frances Fremantle, HMS Ganges, Betanzos Bay. Replies to letter of 23 December [1803] that Benjamin Purvey was taken out of the Letter or marque Margaret and Eliza of Liverpool in Cork Harbour on 18 October [1803]. He believes from the man's account that his Master's statement is true.
Folios 608-610: enclosure with folios 606-607. Letter dated 20 December 1803 from W Johnson, Robinson Row, Hull, to Sir Evan Nepean, Admiralty Office, London. He encloses a copy of the indentures [not present] of an apprentice of his, Benjamin Purvey. The reason he only has a copy is because there is a charitable institution set up in the town by the late Alderman Coggar to place 30 poor boys yearly and the Steward who binds them keeps the original indentures. If the original is required he will apply for it. His apprentice ran away some months ago and is now on board HMS Ganges. Asks for him to be discharged from the ship to return to his service.
