Folios 256-258: Robert Lewis Fitzgerald, Sea Fencibles, Brading. Is sending a copy of a letter received from Lieutenant Carter of the4 Sea Fencibles under his command.
Folio 258: Enclosure with folios 256-258: Letter dated 26 August 1804 from C Carter, Cowes, to Captain Fitzgerald. Lieutenant James Antony Gardner has applied to him to be employed in the Sea Fencibles in place of Lieutenant Wingate recently appointed to HMS Defiance. Lieutenant Gardner is a married man settled in the island with a young family.
