Description

Folios 228-230: H Stanger, Navy Agent, Clements Inn. Is enclosing Commodore Sir Samuel Hood's order appointing William Ferris to act as Captain of HMS Amsterdam. Asks for him to be granted a commission.

Folio 230: Enclosure with folios 228-230: Order dated 5 May 1804 from Samuel Hood, Commander in Chief at Barbados and the Leeward Islands, given on board HMS Emerald, Surinam River, to William Ferris, Commander of HMS Drake. Signed by command of the Commodore by John S Tracey. He has commissioned the Batavian frigate Prosperine, surrendered in this river with the colony, and named her HMS Amsterdam. Hie is directed to go on board immediately and act as Captain of her until further order.
