Folios 574-575: Robert Forbes, Liverpool. Responding to Admiralty letter of 1 July, says that no apprentices have been impressed [this word underlined], and if his previous letter had given that impression he was at fault. Confirms that the tender sailed on 2 June with the volunteer apprentices aboard amongst 127 new raised men. Then gives a copy of his letter of 25 June, in which he stated that several stout young men, landsmen apprentices aged 17 to 20, had entered and received the king's bounty. He is sure they will be useful and has refused applications from some of their masters to have them discharged, but asks for further orders.
