Description

Prisoner name: Job Nobbs.

Court and date of trial: Dorset Summer Assizes, Dorchester, 1831.

Crime: Attempting to administer poison (laudanum) to his infant child with intent to murder, in district of Cerne, Dorset.

Initial sentence: [Death], commuted to transportation for life.

Annotated: Attention will be given to any statement he may think fit to transmit.

Petitioner(s): John Frampton of Cerne Abbas, Dorset, the prisoner's attorney.

Grounds for clemency: Facts have come to light which would have influenced the trial; petitioner will have depositions sworn.

Additional Information: Execution date set for 6 August 1831.
