Incorporated under act of 2nd July 1819 (59 Geo III, cap.115) for making and maintaining railway or tramroad from Crabtree to communicate with Prison of War on Dartmoor. Company was remodelled under act of 19th June 1865, and transferred to and absorbed by London and South Western Railway Company at midnight on 31st December 1922 under London and South Western Railway (Southern Group) Preliminary Absorption Scheme 1922 dated 23rd December 1922. London and South Western Railway Company became part of Southern Railway Company as from 1st January 1923 under Railways (Southern Group) Amalgamation Scheme 1922 dated 22nd December 1922.
