Under Midland Railway (Otley and Ilkley Extension) Act and North Eastern Railway Act, both dated 11th July 1861, Midland, and North Eastern railway companies were authorised to construct railway. Joint Committee was formed called Otley and Ilkley Joint Line Committee to manage railway.
