Belfast and Ballymena Railway Company was incorporated on 21 July 1845, its name being changed under act of 15 May 1860 to Belfast and Northern Counties Railway Company. Under act of 21 July 1903, company was amalgamated with Midland Railway Company and Act authorised appointment of Northern Counties Committee to facilitate convenient management of Northern Counties Railway. Midland Railway Company became part of London Midland and Scottish Railway Company under North Western, Midland and West Scottish Group Amalgamation Scheme 1922 dated 30 December 1922.
