Three Acts were passed in 1846
1. North Staffordshire Railway (Potteries' Line) Act 26th June 1846 under which certain people were incorporated as North Staffordshire Railway Company.
2. North Staffordshire Railway (Churnet Valley Line) Act 26th June 1846 also incorporating certain people as North Staffordshire Railway Company.
3. North Staffordshire Railway (Harecastle and Sandbach Line) Act 26th June 1846 also incorporating certain people as North Staffordshire Railway Company.
Under North Staffordshire Railway Act of 2nd July 1847 these Acts were repealed except in certain particulars, amongst which was establishment and incorporation of North Staffordshire Railway Company.
Under North Western, Midland and West Scottish Group Amalgamation Scheme 1923, dated 29th June 1923, North Staffordshire Railway Company was vested in London Midland and Scottish Railway Company as from 1st July 1923, though for certain purposes specified in Clause 4, date of vesting was deemed to be 1st January 1923.
