Incorporated by Newtown and Machynlleth Railway Act 27th July 1857, by Cambrian Railways Act 25th July 1864, company together with, (1) Oswestry Ellesmere and Whitchurch Railway Company, (2) Oswestry and Newtown Railway Company, and (3) Llanidloes and Newtown Railway Company, was dissolved and constituted one undertaking by name Cambrian Railways, which was amalgamated with Great Western Railway as from 1st January 1923 by virtue of Railways Act 19th August 1921.
