The Mold and Denbigh Railway Company was incorporated by an act of Parliament in 1861. Under an agreement made in 1868 the London and North West Railway Company worked the railway. This agreement is recited in Schedule B to the London and North Western Rail (New Works and Additional Powers) Act in 1869. The Mold and Denbigh Junction Railway Company was vested in the London, Midland and Scottish Railway Company from January 1923 under the London Midland and Scottish Railway Preliminary Absorption Scheme.
