Incorporated by Mid Wales Railway Act of 1st August 1859.

The line was worked by the Cambrian Railway from 2nd April 1888 under agreements dated 29th February 1888 and 24th February 1897.

The company was amalgamated with Cambrian Railways Company as from 1st July 1904 by Cambrian Railways (Mid-Wales Railway Amalgamation etc) Act, 24th June 1904.

The Cambrian Railway was amalgamated with the Great Western Railway Company as from 1st January 1923 by virtue of the Railways Act 19th August 1921.
