Incorporated under their act of 1st August 1859. Under Merthyr, Tredegar & Abergavenny Railway (Leasing) Act 7th August 1862, company was leased to London & North Western Railway Company in accordance with terms of Agreement scheduled to Act. By virtue of Merthyr, Tredegar & Abergavenny Railway Act of 30th July 1866, company was transferred to London & North Western Railway Company, and Merthyr, Tredegar & Abergavenny Railway Company dissolved. London & North Western Railway Company was vested in London Midland & Scottish Railway Company under North Western, Midland & West Scottish Group Amalgamation Scheme 1922 dated 30th December 1922.
