Incorporated by act of 12th July 1837.

Under the Maryport & Carlisle Railway Act 26th June 1855 the company was dissolved and re-incorporated by the same name.

The Maryport & Carlisle Railway Company was merged into the London Midland & Scottish Railway Company as from 1st January 1923 under the London Midland & Scottish Railway Preliminary Absorption Scheme 1923 dated 3rd April 1923.
