Constructed under Mansfield & Pinxton Railway Act of 16th June 1817. Undertaking was purchased by Midland Railway Company under act of 8th July 1847 but could not be dissolved until certificate of Railway Commissioners dated 15th February 1848 had been obtained. Midland Railway Company became part of London Midland and Scottish Railway Company under North Western, Midland and West Scottish Group Amalgamation Scheme 1922 dated 30th December 1922.
