Although this company was promoted in 1836, scheme was rejected by Parliament in that year as was also scheme for Manchester & Cheshire Junction Railway Company. These two companies then joined forces and promoted Manchester & Birmingham Railway Company which was incorporated under act of 30th June 1837. This company was amalgamated with Grand Junction and London & Birmingham railway companies under act of 16th July 1846 to form London & North Western Railway Company. This latter Company was vested in London Midland and Scottish Railway Company as from 1st January 1923 under North Western, Midland and West Scottish Group Amalgamation Scheme 1922 dated 30th December 1922.
