Incorporated under act of 1845 (8 and 9 Vic, cap.45). By Act 9 and 10 Vic, cap.132 (1846), company became leased to Norfolk Railway Company in perpetuity. By act of 7th August 1862, Norfolk Railway Company was amalgamated with East Anglian Railway Company; Eastern Counties Railway Company; Eastern Union Railway Company; and East Suffolk Railway Company, with their subsidiary undertakings, to form Great Eastern Railway Company. Great Eastern Railway Company became part of London and North Eastern Railway Company from 1st January 1923 under North Eastern, Eastern and East Scottish Group Amalgamation Scheme 1922 dated 30th December 1922.
