Registry Number: CCG 41/273. <p>Reparations and Restitutions: vol IV.</p> <p>Messages and correspondence between the Reparations, Deliveries and Restitution [RDR] Division at the headquarters of the Control Commission for Germany in Berlin, the Finance Division and several other departments on a variety of issues including the policy on reparations and restitution of industrial material, multilateral deliveries, the allocation between East and West Germany of a list of 19 war plants 'from which general purpose machinery can be made available' and the selection of power stations proposed for reparations from the three Western zones of Germany, dated October-November 1946. Includes a note of the Allied Secretariat of the Co-ordinating Committee of the Allied Control Authority enclosing a French memorandum on the closing of factories declared available for reparations, dated October 1946. No specific reference to cultural property. Also includes messages between the Control Commission in Berlin and the Foreign Office relating to the visit of the Italian Restitution Mission to the US Zone 'in order to identify and recover Italian assets taken by the Germans' [including works of art as testified by the presence of Dr Siviero, see FO 170/1201] and prompting the Commission to 'afford similar facilities to this Mission in the British Zone as soon as possible'. <p>Further correspondence and messages between several departments of the Foreign Office and the Control Commission for Germany relating to the disarmament, release or selection as reparation material of a variety of German factories including the Deutsche Lufthansa AG, steel and munitions factories, dated April- September 1946. Includes a note of the Finance Division on the 'export licence procedure for goods delivered on account of reparations and restitution' with related forms, dated August 1946. No specific reference to cultural property. Also comprises notes and messages recording the disagreements over the dismantling and delivery of reparation plants, the decision to remove industrial capital equipment from the four Zones of Occupation, the comments by the CORC [Co-ordinating Committee of the Allied Control Authority] members with regard to the consolidated list of plants declared available for reparations after April 1946 and the proposal by the US member of the CORC that 'additional nations [to] be declared eligible for restitution', in particular Austria, Italy, Hungary, Rumania and Finland, which were entitled to the restitution of identifiable items including 'works of art and cultural works'. <p>Further correspondence and messages providing further amendments to the definition of war booty and information on a variety of issues including the Roges metal dump in Hannover, the terms of reference of the RDR Division, the movement of horses from the British Zone to Poland, the removal of war material as booty and reparations and the utilisation of lists of all removals carried out between January and May 1946. Includes a progress report by the Allied Secretariat on the dismantling and delivery of plant allocated as reparations enclosing 12 annexes and appendices with detailed lists of the plants - including the Daimler-Benz Aircraft Engine plant - allocated to the USSR from the US and British Zone as of April 1946. No specific reference to cultural property.</p>
