Incorporated under act of 25th July 1834.

Under act of 4th June 1839 the name of the company was changed to the London and South Western Railway Company. This latter Company was amalgamated with the Southern Railway Company under the Railways (Southern Group) Amalgamation Scheme dated 22nd December 1922. The Southern Railway Company passed to the British Transport Commission under the Transport Act 1947.
