This Joint Committee, originally the London and North Western, Great Western and West Midland Joint Committee, was set up in accordance with the terms of an agreement dated 17th March 1863.
The Joint Committee became the London Midland and Scottish and Great Western Joint Committee (see Minute of 12th February 1923) and ceased on the nationalisation of railways under the Transport Act 1947.
