Incorporated under act of 17 May 1833.

Under the powers of the Act of 21 July 1845, 8 & 9 Vic, cap.80, the London & Greenwich Railway Company was leased to the South Eastern Railway Company for 999 years from January 1845.

By virtue of the South Eastern Railway (Southern Group) Preliminary Absorption Scheme 1922, dated 6 February 1923, the London & Greenwich Railway Company was transferred to and absorbed by the Southern Railway Company from 1 June 1923 immediately after the Railways (Southern Group) Amalgamation Scheme 1922, dated 22 December 1922, came into operation and took effect.
