Incorporated under act of 12 June 1835:

Under act of 27 July 1846 the London & Brighton and the London & Croydon railway companies were consolidated and united to form the London, Brighton & South Coast Railway Company.

The London, Brighton & South Coast Railway Company became part of the Southern Railway Company under the Railways (Southern Group) Amalgamation Scheme 1922 dated 22 December 1922.
