Incorporated 6th March 1899 under Light Railways Act 1896, Further Powers Order 1906, and Amendment Order 1911. Line was worked and maintained by North Staffordshire Railway Company under a 99 years' agreement dated 23rd May 1905. Under London Midland and Scottish Railway (Leek and Manifold Valley Light Railway) Absorption Scheme 1924 dated 24th June 1924, Leek and Manifold Light Railway Company was transferred to and absorbed into London Midland and Scottish Railway Company as from 1st July 1923.
