Incorporated under act of 30th June 1852. Company was amalgamated on equal terms with Great Northern Railway Company from 5th September 1865 under act of 5th July 1865. Great Northern Railway Company became part of London and North Eastern Railway Company from 1st January 1923 under North Eastern, Eastern and East Scottish Group Amalgamation Scheme 1922 dated 30th December 1922.
