Incorporated as "Huddersfield and Manchester Railway and Canal Company" under Huddersfield and Manchester Railway and Canal Act 21st July 1845. This company was, by act of 9th July 1847, vested in London and North Western Railway Company. London & North Western Railway Company was vested in London Midland & Scottish Railway Company under North Western, Midland and West Scottish Group Amalgamation Scheme 1922 dated 30th December 1922.
