These Committees were formed of representatives of Great Western, and Shrewsbury & Hereford railway companies respectively.

Shrewsbury & Hereford Railway Company, which had been incorporated under act of 3rd August 1846, was leased to London & North Western; Great Western; and West Midland railway companies as from 1st July 1862, by Shrewsbury & Hereford (Leasing) Act 29th July 1862 Section 3. West Midland Company was amalgamated with Great Western Railway Company as from 1st August 1863 by Great Western Railway (West Midland Railway) Amalgamation Act of 13th July 1863, Section 5. Shrewsbury & Hereford Railway Company was vested in Great Western and London & North Western railway companies jointly by London & North Western (Additional Powers) Act 4th July 1870.

Management of joint station then passed to Shrewsbury & Hereford Joint Committee which on 4th October 1867 was taken over by London & North Western and Great Western Railways Joint Committee (See page 203 of the latter company's minute book, Vol I)

This latter Committee became London Midland & Scottish and Great Western Railways Joint Committee on Amalgamation of Railways, 1st January 1923 and ceased on nationalisation of railways, 1st January 1948 under Transport Act of 1947.
