Incorporated under act of 1860. By act of 1874, company was leased to London, Brighton & South Coast Railway Company for 1000 years from 30th June 1874. Under London Brighton & South Coast Railway (Southern Group) Preliminary Absorption Scheme 1922, dated 23rd December, 1922, Hayling Railways Company was transferred to and absorbed by London, Brighton & South Coast Railway Company at midnight on 31st December 1922. London, Brighton & South Coast Railway Company became part of Southern Railway Company under Railways (Southern Group) Amalgamation Scheme 1922 dated 22nd December 1922.
