Incorporated under act of 1st June 1832. Undertaking was leased to York, Newcastle and Berwick Railway Company for 31 years from 1st July 1848 under agreement dated 18th December, 1848 in pursuance of powers conferred by act of 1848 (11 and 12 Vic cap.81), and was dissolved and vested in North Eastern Railway Company under North Eastern and Hartlepool Dock and Railway Companies Amalgamation Act 13th July 1857.
North Eastern Railway Company, Hull and Barnsley Railway Company, and Hull Joint Dock Committee were dissolved and united into one company by name North Eastern Railway Company as from 1st April 1922 by virtue of North Eastern and Hull and Barnsley railway companies Amalgamation Scheme 1922 dated 1st April 1922. This North Eastern Railway Company became part of London and North Eastern Railway Company as from 1st January 1923 under North Eastern, Eastern and East Scottish Group Amalgamation Scheme 1922 dated 30th December 1922.
