The Great Grimsby and Sheffield Junction Railway Company was incorporated under act of 1845 (8 & 9 Vic, cap.50).
Under act of 1846 (9 & 10 Vic, cap.268), Sheffield, Ashton under Lyne & Manchester; Great Grimsby & Sheffield Junction; Sheffield & Lincolnshire Junction; Sheffield & Lincolnshire Extension railway companies and Grimsby Dock Company were amalgamated to form Manchester, Sheffield & Lincolnshire Railway Company.
