The Great Central and Metropolitan Railways Committee was formed by three directors of each of the two companies in pursuance of clause 12 of an agreement dated 18 Dec 1890 which was confirmed by the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway (Extension to London) Act 1893. Only three meetings were held.
