Garstang and Knott End Railway Company was incorporated under act of 30th June 1864.
In 1878 a receiver was appointed by debenture holders and under Knott End Railway Act of 18th June 1908, Garstang and Knott End Railway Company was to be purchased by Knott End Railway Company, completion of sale and vesting to take place within three months of passing of act. (Bradshaw states that line was taken over on 1st July 1908).
