The Exe Valley Railway Company was incorporated under their act of 30th June 1874.

By the Bristol & Exeter Railway Company's Act of 19th July 1875, their powers were transferred to latter Company.

The Bristol & Exeter Railway Company was amalgamated with Great Western Railway Company as from 1st January 1876 by virtue of Great Western and Bristol & Exeter Railways Amalgamation Act 27th June 1876.
