The East Suffolk Railway Company was incorporated as Halesworth, Beccles & Haddiscoe Railway Company under act of 5th June 1851, and name changed to East Suffolk Railway Company under act of 1854.

Under an act of 7th August 1862 East Suffolk Railway Company was amalgamated with East Anglian; Eastern Counties; Norfolk; and Eastern Union railway companies, with their subsidiary undertakings, to form Great Eastern Railway Company.
