The Dursley and Midland Junction Railway Company was incorporated under act of 25th May 1855.

Under Section 26 etc., of Midland Railway (Additional Powers) Act 28th June 1861, power was given for transfer of undertaking to Midland Railway Company by deed of transfer, and for Dursley & Midland Junction Railway Company to wind up its affairs, after which company was to be dissolved; but purchase by Midland Railway Company was not completed until October 1861.
