Incorporated under Dunstable & London & Birmingham Railway Act of 30th June 1845. By section 25 of act, as soon as railway was completed, it was to be vested in and become absolute property of London & Birmingham Railway Company. London & Birmingham Railway Company together with Grand Junction Railway Company and Manchester & Birmingham Railway Company were consolidated under act of 16th July 1846 to form London & North Western Railway Company which company became vested in London Midland and Scottish Railway as from 1st January 1923 under North Western Midland and West Scottish Group Amalgamation Scheme dated 30th December 1922.
