The Disley and Hayfield Railway Company was incorporated under act of 3rd July 1860.

Since the company was unable to complete railway and was compelled to abandon undertaking, London & North Western Railway Act of 6th August 1880 gave authority for High Court of Justice to repay money paid into Chancery (See preamble to and Section 50 of last mentioned act.)
