The Cromford and High Peak Railway was incorporated under an Act of 2nd May 1825.

Under Cromford and High Peak Railway (Lease) Act 30th June 1862, the company was leased to London and North Western Railway Company. By section 52 of the London and North Western Railway Act 19th July 1887, the Cromford and High Peak Railway Company was dissolved, except for the purpose of winding up its affairs, and amalgamated with London and North Western Railway Company.
