Description

Prisoner name: Edward Rees.

Prisoner age: 36.

Prisoner occupation: Labourer, of Llangerrig, Montgomeryshire.

Court and date of trial: Montgomeryshire Summer Assizes, August 1831.

Crime: Wounding a mare and gelding, the property of David Edwards of Fronvellan, Montgomeryshire.

Initial sentence: [Death recorded], commuted to transportation for life.

Gaoler's report: Bad character.

Annotated: Nil.

Petitioner(s): Edward Rees (the convict) undersigned by five inhabitants of [Llangerrig].

Grounds for clemency: Has a wife and five children under 10 years of age; first offence; mitigating circumstances [not detailed].
