The Coleford, Monmouth, Usk and Pontypool Railway Company was incoporated under the Coleford, Monmouth Usk and Pontypool Railway Act 20 August 1853 and leased to West Midland Railway Company by Coleford, Monmouth, Usk and Pontypool Railway (Lease etc,) Act 22 July 1861.
Under the Great Western Railway Act of 22 August 1881, the company was vested in the Great Western Railway Company as from 1 January 1887.
